January 31

Today I went to celebrate my best girlfriend's baby turning one!! (see Jan 31, 2009). I can't believe it's already been a year since she was born. She's such a doll.

January 30

Went shopping for a birthday party for my favorite 1-year-old today. Picked up a few colorful, loud, fun things.

January 22

DH and I and some friends went to a graduate student reception tonight. There was free live music, drinks, hors d'oeuvres and art. Okay, so the GOOD drinks weren't free, but they had punch. In 2008, the Art building on campus was completely flooded along with many others. They had some 500 pieces of their collection available for us to view tonight.

I saw this in a store. Now, I'm no fashionista, but I can't believe that it was even for sale, much less that it came with $100 price tag.

So I finished knitting my first hat ever for my hubby, and this is the hilarious result. Um, it's a little too big. Just a tad. A smidge.

January 11

Today DH took me cross-country skiing for the first time ever. We did a two-mile loop, used borrowed skis and had a blast! It was a great reminder of how unathletic and uncoordinated I am. I only fell down a few times, and it was such a great way to be outside in this cold weather and take advantage of the snow.

I'm not sure how it got there or for how long it had been in my car, but when we were shoveling it (the car, that is) out from under a snow pile left by the plow, DH noticed that this Pepsi had exploded in the back seat. Glad he caught it before it melted, because it was super easy to clean up.

Hubby had an interview today for a program he applied to here at the university. I know he did a great job, and they'd be crazy not to take him! It's really competitive, and they're only taking 21 students this year.

My hubby finally decided to get rid of his 8-year-old computer, and he ended up with this new iMac. Here is is unveiling it and, of course, checking facebook to make sure it's connected to our network. It is awesome.

January 1

Is this heaven?? No, it's Iowa.
Happy new year, everyone!! Just in case anyone was paying attention, I made it a whole year. I must say that I have enjoyed this project, have enjoying exploring and getting to know the blogging community and am planning to keep trying to post a photo a day, hence a new title. Thanks for everyone's comments over the year and making my first year of blogging so successful.
Here are my new year's resolutions:
  • Keep taking photos for the blog and being aware of life around me
  • Do more lunges
  • Do more reading for pleasure
  • Drink more water
  • Stop worring so much about studying and try to enjoy learning
  • Cook new foods and get out of my dinner rut

Stay safe, warm and happy! Cheers!
