Took the recyclables to City Carton Recycling today. Love to throw the glass ones in their bin and hear them shatter at the bottom.

April 25

Today was the Old Capitol Criterium in downtown Iowa City. DH is in the red and black, and he did a great job at his first attempt at road racing.

April 23

My brother-in-law is on military leave and came to visit. It was great to see him, and he and DH were up pretty late into the wee hours of the morning catching up. This is the small aftermath. I didn't even know we had a jar of peanuts in the house.

April 21

DH just cleaned out our change jar and took all of the quarters down to the car for the meters. They eat quarters for lunch. Excellent idea....until I went to grab some quarters out of the change jar for a mid-day Mountain Dew. I nearly had a mental breakdown, you know, because I'm an addict.

April 18

Today DH and I went on a "bike date". I haven't taken my bike out for a spin for around a year, so we went for a nice ride and had a picnic lunch. It was lots of fun, and it's a beautiful day.

I got a new pin for my lab coat tonight.

It was a great honor to be inducted into Rho Chi.

My shamrock plant is especially good at letting me know when I've forgotten to water him. I'm sure all of the other plants appreciate it too. And, yes, I have a container labeled "Plant H2O" because I put fertilizer in it sometimes, and I don't want anyone to accidentally try and put foodstuffs in it.

April 11

Today DH did his first mountain bike race of the season. His second mountain bike race ever. There were over 100 people in his division, and his chain fell off of his bike within the first 100 yards of the starting line. Needless to say, he spent the rest of the race trying to catch up and pass all the slow people. He also got crashed into a few times and has some war wounds. I think over all of the frustration he still had fun, though. It's always fun to watch. The middle pic is of him getting a little air on a ramp/drop-off.

We made some tacos for lunch today that we saw on the Food Network. They were really pretty and colorful, but I'd give it about a B-. Not the most delicious thing I've ever eaten, not horrible, but probably won't make them again. Fun to try, though. First time cooking tomatillos. Happy April!!! I've been waiting for this picture for a long time. I never seem to have a camera when I walk by. I love that people congregate and smoke right by the "Smoke-Free Campus" sign. They started scattering when they saw me coming with the camera.
