March 16

Got my census in the mail today, along with a letter last week telling me it was coming, and a postcard yesterday with a number to call if I needed help filling it out.

March 15

The daytime view.

Here's Parker trying to lick the camera.

March 14

Got to see my younger brother today who also lives in Chicago.
(Our names both start with "C")
Here's Nick with his 5-month-old puppy, Parker.

The night view from Nick's balcony.

March 13

My friend Nick invited us to come stay at his place in Chicago. We had a great trip and enjoyed spending the first weekend of spring break away from home. Here's the three of us in a security camera at the grocery store.
He said he was tired of seeing what I had for dinner on the blog, and I needed more people shots, so here's a picture of him trying to give a stranger directions. :)

March 12

Today Dad and DH worked our filing our taxes, our first year filing jointly, you know, cause we're married now and all.
And I got to see Amery today.

March 10

I've been studying all day and night for my last exam before spring break. DH made us some adobo-rub pork chops with black bean pico de gallo and goat cheese for dinner. He's awesome.

March 8

The squirrels in my yard are having a hay-day (no idea if that is how you spell that one, and I don't care to go look it up right this moment) with the warmer weather. They're all over chirping and squawking at each other. None of them wanted to pose for a picture, though, so here's some squirrels frolicking in the trees. Sometimes I wish I was a squirrel. At least then I wouldn't have to think about the pharmacokinetics of chronic renal disease.

March 5

Before: After:

I tried a new recipe tonight for some parchment-baked chicken. I opted for no olives. It turned out really delicious, and because of that, I'm including the recipe from Tosca Reno below:

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Coat parchment paper with non-stick spray.
Place 1/2 cup arugula on the parchment paper.
Place chicken breast on top of arugula.
Sprinkle with 1/2 tsp each fresh sage and rosemary.
Top with 1/4 cup plum tomatoes.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
Drizzle with olive oil.
Top with optional olives.
Fold over parchment paper to seal edges.
Place on baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes
(or until puffy and lightly browned)
Enjoy.

March 4

I probably shouldn't say this out loud, but it's too funny not to share. I was doing some light reading last night on psoriasis when I looked up and saw this cool reflection on my ceiling. I told my husband, look at this amazing design. It must be some strange reflection from this kleenex box or something.

Then he pointed out that there are vents on top of the light, and that's where the reflection came from.
I like to call it a blonde moment.

March 1

Happy March, everyone!
